World Health Organization (WHO) Declares Monkeypox Global Emergency

 

 Due to  the way the disease is spreading, the director General of World Health Organisation   decided that the global monkeypox outbreak represents a public health emergency of international concern.” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus based on the International Health Regulations criteria, 23.07.2022.

With more than 16,000 cases reported from 75 countries so far, the (WHO) has classified the monkeypox outbreak as a global health emergency  India has already reported three cases of monkeypox.

According to the Ministry of Health, Royal Government of Bhutan, monkeypox symptoms include backache, fever, headache, exhaustion, muscle aches and swollen lymph nodes. The ministry says avoiding close contact with people who have symptoms, washing hands with soap and water, and avoiding animals that could harbor the virus can prevent a person from getting infected.
